Norwood Elementary School in West Jefferson had two copies of “The Jerrie Mock Story: The First Woman to Fly Around the World” books donated to the school library by Emily Morgan, a first grade student.

Although not nearly as well known as Amelia Earhart, Mock from Bexley, known as “the flying housewife” made aviation history by being the first woman to fly solo around the world in 1964.

Her adventure is written for young readers by Plain City author Nancy Roe Pimm. Her book is published by Ohio University Press.
