London Correctional Institution (LoCI) has recognized ones of its employees for preventing an inmate escape.
The morning of Oct. 28, 2015 ,Travis Hall confronted an inmate who was apparently testing the security response during a heavy rain. He was clearly out of place behind the OPI shop which is very close to the perimeter fence. Hall noticed this and proceeded to shake the inmate down.
Unsatisfied with the inmate’s response to this situation, Hall had him escorted to the captain’s office where he was questioned and locked in segregation. Upon examination of camera footage it was discovered the inmate was hiding on the back dock area and walking around in the dark between the buildings trying to not be observed.
“Hall’s quick response to this incident very likely prevented an escape attempt,” a spokesperson said. “Hall’s keen observation skills would not let him be satisfied with the inmate’s initial response and caused him to investigate further. Hall exhibits true professionalism on a daily basis and is a great asset to the Ohio Department of Corrections.”
For his actions, Hall received the Gold Star Award.
