The Ohio State Department of Health and the Healthy Ohio Business Council recently honored a Mount Sterling-area business with a Healthy Ohio Healthy Worksite Award.

WillowWood was recognized for its commitment to creating a healthy work environment. This was the first year the company applied for the annual state recognition award.

One of 68 Ohio employers to receive the state award, WillowWood was recognized at the bronze level during a luncheon at the Health Action Council’s 2016 Annual Conference on Jan. 20. The Healthy Ohio Healthy Worksite Award recognizes employers that demonstrate a commitment to employee health through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs.

Programs include an employee health fair, tobacco cessation, walking challenges, community gardening, weight loss, and fitness training. Additionally, all employees are encouraged to utilize the company’s work-out facility, half-mile outdoor walking path, sand volleyball court, and three ponds for catch-and-release fishing.
