Local business owner Gary Stites left Saturday, May 31, for a ride from the northern tip of North America to raise money for children’s homes in Mexico, Cambodia, the Philippines, Guatemala and India.
Stites, who owns Lakota of Ohio trailer sales in Lafayette, will join Pastor Len Crow for the 11,000-kilometer trip from Deadhorse, Alaska, to Guadalajara, Mexico.
Stites donated a trailer for Crow to use. The trailer has a living quarters and room for three horses. Crow will rotate the three horses through the ride.
Crow and his team are expecting to go through about 155 tanks of gas for the year-long ride. Stites will return to Ohio periodically.
The dealership is the No. 1 Lakota dealership in the U.S.
