Madison County Democrat — Rev. Jennie Linn is holding revival services at Millersport this week.


— Mrs. John Young was operated on last week at Mount Carmel Hospital at Columbus. (John Young was janitor at the old Union School which sat in the middle of Garrette Park. He was there when your writer started school there in 1942.)

— The following officers of the I.O.O.F. (Odd Fellows) Lodge were installed on Wednesday evening of last week: Noble Grand, Frank Engle; Vice Grand, John Borland; R.S.N.G., Wilson Johnson; L.S.N.G., Alpheus Burrell; R.S.V.G., D. S. Busic; L.S.V.G., Leonard Johnson; Warden, Frank Olney; Conductor, W. R. Borland; O.G., Matt Renner; L.G., Bert Deems; Chaplain, John Harvey; Secretary, A. F. Burrell; Treasurer, J. A. Baer. The event ended with a watch meeting.

— Children’s wool sweaters can be had for 79 cents. Ladies knit wool fascinators for 25 cents. (What were these?) Wool skirts, 78 cents. Infants Saques from 19 cents to 98 cents. (What were these?) Baby Buggy Robes 78 cents.

The Madison Press, April 8, 1954 — The congregation of the West Jefferson Methodist Church will observe the Lord’s Supper in the church dining rooms, Thursday evening, April 15. For several years the congregation have had this special feature in their observance of Holy Week. Reservations for the Supper must be made by Sunday, April 11, according to Reverend Robert Meredith, pastor of the church.


— Mrs. Alex Pelphrey Jr. entertained the Canasta Club last Thursday evening. Prizes for the progressive contest were awarded to Mrs. Merwin Bidwell, Mrs. Phinney Oldham, Mrs. Richard Hockenbery, Mrs. Jay Travis and Mrs. Clare McNutt.


— Mrs. Raymond Deacon will entertain the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon, April 12.


— The West Jefferson Young Farmers Association had its annual Wind-up party Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hockenbery, Blair Road. After a potluck supper attended by 15 members and their wives, Robert Braithwaite was elected president, David Thomas, vice president and Charles Harbage, secretary-treasurer. The Association recently received its charter from the Ohio Association. Many of those now in the organization have been members since it organized late in 1948. The group is under the direction of Mr. R. O. Deacon, vocational agriculture instructor at the West Jefferson High School.
