Madison County Sheriff Dep. Nick Lisska and canine officer Even were among drug dogs sweeping halls and parking lots in area schools Tuesday morning.
Canine officers from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and the Hilliard Police Department also participated in the short drug sweeps, which are periodically requested by school administrators.
London High School, Tolles Career & Technical Center and Hilliard Bradley High School were on Tuesday’s school-search list.
The dogs alert the officers to the possible presence of drugs including marijuana, heroin and cocaine.
In school sweeps, officers usually leave the actual car or locker searches to be conducted by school officials in the presence of the students, Lisska explained.
Information regarding how many times the dogs alerted to drugs in the school was not available Tuesday.
