Strawberry Fest food contest open to all


Are you a great cook? The Strawberry Food Contest is open to all ages at the London Strawberry Festival on Friday, June 26.

STRAWBERRY CONTEST

Check in will be take place from 7 to 8 p.m. at the information booth. Judging will be from 8 to 8:15 p.m. Food will be released at 8:30 p.m.

Classes are: Class 1 — Desserts; Class 2 — All other (salads, non-alcoholic drink, main dish, etc.)

Requirements include:

• All foods must contain at least one of the following: Fresh strawberries, frozen strawberries, strawberry flavor, strawberry jam, jelly or preserves.

• All foods must be accompanied by the recipe. Recipes become the property of the London Strawberry Festival. Recipe with contributors name, may be published in a future London Strawberry Festival Cookbook. Photos may be included.

• Items left will be discarded at 11 p.m.

Winners will be announced after the parade on Saturday, June 27.

CAKE AND COOKIE DECORATION CONTEST

The cake and cookie decoration contest is open to all ages.

Decorated items will be on display during the festival.

Check in will take place from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at London City Council chambers or from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 25, at the information booth.

Requirements include:

• A real cake or cake form may be used. All items must be decorated using a strawberry theme.

• All cakes or cookies must be accompanied by the recipe. Simply note if a cake form was used.

• All items must include icing recipe.

• All items must include a list of decorating supplies and materials. Example: decorator bag with writing tip filled with red icing, decorator bag with leaf tip filled with green icing, three chocolate strawberries, five fresh strawberries, white icing.

• Include icing directions. Example: Cover cake in white icing. Write London Strawberry Festival in red. Place strawberries and add green leaves.

Winners will be announced after the parade on Saturday, June 27.

Entries must be picked up from the information booth/tent between 9 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. Items left will be discarded.
