Tolles Career & Technical Center will have a new chief financial officer at the helm for the first time in more than 35 years. Tamara Woods was hired as the district’s new treasurer by the board of education during a special session on Thursday, June 4. Woods comes to Tolles Career & Technical Center after serving the Johnstown-Monroe Local School District.
“Tammy comes to us with a great deal of experience in the financial arena,” said Tolles Career & Technical Center Board of Education President Doug Maggied, who represents Hilliard City Schools. “She has past banking experience, as well as 15 years as a school district treasurer. She was chosen over several candidates by a committee of board members and the superintendent. We are looking forward to working with her.”
Woods is graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene College and was the chief financial officer at The People’s Bank of Gambier from 1996-2000. In 2000, she accepted the position of treasurer/CFO at East Knox Local School District. She became the treasurer/CFO of Johnstown-Monroe in 2004.
“I am excited to be joining the Tolles team. My goal is a continuation of the excellent level of service that has been provided by the treasurer’s office,” said Woods. “I look forward to building on this strong foundation to assist the board, administration and staff to ‘Lift’ every student at Tolles towards their goal.”
Woods will replace Pam Orr, who has served as the district’s treasurer since 1977. Orr’s retirement is effective Friday, July 31. Woods will begin Saturday, Aug. 1.
