The following are questionnaires submitted by two of the candidates running for two seats on the Darby Township Board of Trustees:

MICHAEL L. GEORGE

What is your: name, age, and occupation?

Michael L. George, 71, Keller Williams Real Estate agent in Plain City.

Incumbent or challenger for the seat?

Incumbent.

Why do you want to be elected to the office you are seeking?

I have always believed that our community will be as good as we make it. I believe in public service and have served on the Jonathan Alder Board of Education, Plain City Village Council, Plain City Planning and Zoning Commission and as Mayor of Plain City.

What goals would you have if elected?

If re-elected I will continue to work to insure that our roads and cemeteries are well maintained, that future growth is well planned and not a burden on our community and that taxes are not increased.

How have you been involved in your community related to the office you are seeking, either as incumbent or challenger?

I was a founding member of the Uptown Plain City Organization (UPCO) and served on the Plain City Planning and Zoning Commission for many years as well as worked on Plain City’s last Comprehensive Plan. My experience in local government has given me an understanding of many aspects of zoning including public utilities, planned unit development and annexation. I can provide experience and good judgment for our Township and Community as they deal with the growth that is inevitable in the coming years.

KLAAS FRIESEN

What is your: name, age, and occupation?

Klaas Friesen, 70, semi retired.

Incumbent or challenger for the seat?

Incumbent.

Why do you want to be elected to the office you are seeking?

Now that I have more time on my hands I can be of service to the community.

What goals would you have if elected?

I will continue to push for change on State Route 161 and Cemetery Pike, which is for safety reason.

How have you been involved in your community related to the office you are seeking, either as incumbent or challenger?

I was the instigator in restoring the Bigelow Columbarium in Forest Grove Cemetery and helped with the work. I also helped with snow plowing, ditch mowing and work at the cemetery and used my equipment.

I did run my own trucking business and farmed. This gave me the experience that is needed for a trustee.
