A Mount Sterling woman is under arrest in Pickaway County after the local Sheriff’s office accused her of fabricating an attempted abduction.
According to a press release by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s office Wednesday night, Madison Stacey, 19, was charged with making a false alarm or false report to police after an investigation showed several inconsistencies with her story.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is warning about another incidents involving a suspected police impersonator.
As previously reported, she claimed to the Sheriff’s office she was pulled over for speeding by an unknown person early Monday morning on State Route 207 and Mouser Road.
She said the man told her he was a police officer on his way to work and would not show any identification. She said he then demanded she come with him for violations and then escaped after again refusing to give identification.
The victim’s car was later found abandoned about two miles from where it started.
Sheriff Robert Radcliff said in the press release, “It was unfortunate that the public was caused to be panicked,” adding that events like this have occurred before.
Last week, Circleville police warned about a man in a dark-colored vehicle attempting to pull over cars. Radcliff advises that if anyone in an unmarked vehicle attempts to stop you, call 911 immediately.
