For the second time this school year, a Madison County teacher has been awarded teacher of the month by a local radio station.
Madison-Plains sixth-grade language arts teacher Morgan Gaus received the distinction from Columbus-based Sunny 95 FM, along with Brain Balance and Battelle for Kids. She was recommended by the district after they were contacted by the station.
Andre Friederich, event director for the station, read a statement that praised Gaus for her hands-on approach in her students’ learning, engaging directly with parents and for looking for extra opportunities for students, as well as coaching volleyball, basketball and the spelling bee competitors.
“I just have to say we at Madison-Plains are really proud to have a teacher like Mrs. Gaus at our schools,” said Principal Kim LeGault. “She has given her students a great deal of her time and effort, which I am sure they are grateful for too.”
Recently, one of Gaus’ students, Molly Barber, was declared one of 18 finalists in the Ohio Better Business Bureau’s Laws of Life essay competition.
