London High School Senior McLaren Rogerson is the March London Rotary Student of the Month.
Students are selected by LHS administration based on the following criteria: academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character. McLaren has a 4.34 GPA and is ranked fifth in her class. She says her favorite class is Art 4.
McLaren is a four-year member of the Soccer (Varsity Sport Award) and Track and Field (Coach’s Award) teams. McLaren is a three-year National Honor Society member and serves as its historian. She also was a member of the fall Homecoming Court.
McLaren was asked to name a school staff person who has served as an inspiration and she stated, “My Art teacher, Ms. Stacey Hallowes, has pushed my art to the next level. She taught me to criticize my work to make it better, but also how to be confident and proud of what I’ve done.”
Ms. Hallowes said McLaren “is truly a gift to have in class.
“She’s the student that everyone looks to for advice, a kind word or supportive suggestion, and to see what crazy, creative, amazing piece of work she’s producing. She has talent, maturity, intelligence, and fun all bundled into one amazing young mind and soul — a beautiful thing in every way. I feel lucky to have been blessed with having her in class these past four years and will miss her smiling face next year.”
After graduation McLaren plans to attend college to study Illustration 2-D art. She is the daughter of Andrew and Nicole Rogerson of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International; a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
