The skeletonized remains of a Galloway man were found earlier this month at a farm near Mechanicsburg, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday afternoon.
The remains of Michael Cooper, 30, were discovered at 6475 Lewis Road in northwestern Madison County by a local farmer about 6 p.m. on Aug. 6, according to MSCO.
The farmer found the remains while working in a heavily wooded area of his property.
They were confirmed as Coopers’ remains Monday following examinations by the Montgomery County morgue, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.
Foul play has not been ruled out in the investigation, said Sheriff Jim Sabin.
The victim has been reported missing to Columbus police since May 14. Local law enforcement officers are working with Columbus detectives on the investigation.
Due to the condition of the victim, cause and manner of death are still under investigation.
There are no suspects at this time.
