The K-9 training session by seven K-9 units on Tuesday at West Jefferson High School resulted in a “clean sweep,” reported principal Dave Metz on Wednesday morning.

“We found no drugs,” said Metz. “Though we did do some searches.”

Metz said, “It says right in our handbook we can search on-school property such as lockers, automobiles, and personal belongings such as purses and book bags and the policy is board approved.

“If the dogs hit on something we search it. If one dog ‘hits’ on something, another dog may be brought in to sniff the area also.”

The dogs “hit” on three cars. Subsequent searches found nothing.

“Since I have been principal we have not had any illegal substances found,” Metz said.

K-9 units from around the state mustered for the event. They included units from Fairfield County, Madison County and cities of Bucyrus, Hilliard, Delaware, Athens and Plain City.
