Former London High School Athletic Director Terry Nance filed suit against the school district Friday, asking for reinstatement in the position, back wages or more than $25,000 in damages and reimbursement.
On Monday, a half-dozen students and parents urged members of the London City Schools Board of Education to retain the district’s elementary and middle school program for gifted children.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, members of the London City Schools Board of Education again pressed treasurer Britt Lewis Monday for monthly financial reports based on actual numbers.
“We’ve found over the years the regulations were not ‘hard and fast’ when challenged,” Allen said.
For London (4-14), Kayla Crager was the high scorer with 13. Alicia Hiram finished with 10.
The classification gives the Ohio Department of Education greater oversight of the district’s money until it can confidently forecast a “break even” budget for two to three years, according to Superintendent Steve Allen.
The city acquired the 3.5-acre school campus near downtown London two years ago in exchange for land on state Route 38 where a new middle school is currently under construction.
