The Deer Creek Daisies met on Saturday, June 6 to travel to Augusta, Ky.

The 15th annual Art in the Garden was being held on this beautiful summer day. Inspired by a group of artists, the Augusta art guild formed in 1999. As a community-based organization, the primary goal is to bring a deeper appreciation of the arts to this area.

Every year on the first Saturday in June, the Augusta Art Guild presents “Art in the Garden.” The premier event takes place on the banks of the Ohio River and features over 60 local and regional artists, live music, a variety of food vendors, and children’s activities.

They traveled through Ripley, admiring the homes and gardens overlooking the Ohio River. They took the ferry across the river, to the event. This small river town was blooming with all the colors in many different scapes. Some peeking through the historical wrought iron gates, hanging on backyard fences, window boxes, water gardens and trellises. Blooming yellow cactuses were a special sight. The roses were so beautiful, full of fragrant scents, and in full bloom.

Bending down to savor the smell and to enjoy the views were enjoyed by all.

Their day was filled with art, music, food, and shopping the vendors’ booths. Everyone came home with new garden treasures.

Once again, the Deer Creek Daisies enjoyed friendship, flowers and food. Today’s outing was hosted by Joyce Schlichter and Shirley Pettit.
