The London Public Library is offering a STEM Preschool Story Time on the five senses at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.
What is STEM? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The goal is for all students to be able to function and thrive in our highly technological world. It is about promoting a deeper understanding of concepts and scientific practices.
“American students are not keeping up with students in other countries when it comes to math and science,” a spokesperson said. “To improve our children’s competitive edge, we need to begin at a very early age. There is a growing movement to include more STEM content in library programming.”
In addition to the stories and songs of a regular story time, children and their caregivers will have many hands-on opportunities for exploring. There will be stations dedicated to each of the five senses.
The London Public Library is located at 20 E. First St., London.
