The Deer Creek Daisies recently traveled to Columbus to visit The Columbus Dispatch Home and Garden Show at the Ohio Expo Center. The Bricker building was abuzz with all of the other fun seekers that were out and about that beautiful sunny day.

This place was transported into a gigantic trade show with a large variety of vendors ranging from jewelry, skin care products, Ohio State items, plants, landscaping items, food and cooking items and so much more. The breezeway led us into a gardener’s paradise.

Several countries were represented with beautifully landscaped gardens that had a unique flair from each country. The countries represented were United States, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Mexico, France, Austria, Korea, China, Japan and Tuscany. They were all beautiful. Seeing all the flowers and landscaping had us all dreaming of the days that we will soon be in our own yards digging, pruning and planting. I believe a few of us came home with new landscaping ideas and new flowers we want to plant this spring.

It was an Irish theme at the show the day we were there. Authentic Irish music was being played while we shopped and visited the gardens. Also Pete Nelson from TV’s Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Masters” was speaking that afternoon. On Saturday, Feb. 25 Drew and Jonathan Scott from HGTV’s “Property Brothers” was to be there.

The Home and Garden show is held annually. The show was held Feb. 18-26 this year. We certainly enjoyed our day at the Home and Garden Show shopping, browsing, getting new ideas, sampling foods and just being together.

A late lunch and a brief meeting was held at Ruby Tuesdays in Grove City. The door prizes were won by Kendra Knecht and Connie Lindsey. They both received yellow roses provided by the hostesses, Shirley Pettit and Jeanne Miller.

Our next outing will be held on March 18 when we will travel to Caesar’s Creek for the Maple Syrup and Pancake Brunch with a tour of the Sugar Camp.
