Garden Gala to be held this month

The Garden Gala, which takes travelers on a tour of magnifient area gardens, is being held later this month.

The Gala is slated for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.

Garden sites this year will take travelers to the northwest part of Pickaway County, except for one in Circleville and one at U.S. Route 23 and 762. For the first time, Derby Junior Garden Club will have its site in Derby at the former Darby Elementary School ready for tour.

“It’s hoped that young people will stop to see how this wonderful Junior Garden Club group plant and cultivate all summer long,” a spokesperson said.

Musicians performing are Megan Rainey, Jim Wonder, Lainey Ebright and Matthew Earl.

Several vendors also participating include Miller Metal Works, The Seed House, Stones by Lamb & Healing Gardens and Shabby Chic Garden Creations.

“This will add to the fun of the tour and give visitors a chance to purchase some unique garden items,” the spokesperson said. “Once again local garden clubs are donating items for the raffle, a highlight of the event.”

• 114 Grove Run Road, Commercial Point

• 12189 Graham Drive, (Clark’s Lake) Orient

• 12209 Graham Drive, (Clark’s Lake) Orient

• 12342 Oak Drive, (Clark’s Lake) Orient

• 16082 London Road, Orient

• 16175 London Road, Orient

• 11792 London Road, Derby United Methodist Church, Prayer Garden, food and drinks for sale at the church

• 12049 London Road, Derby Junior Garden Club Garden Plot, (former Darby Elementary School site).

Food will also be available in Darbyville at the Muhlenberg Township House. There will be other points of interest along the way, including the Butterfly Garden at the Mary Virginia Hannan Crites Park, (near Circleville off 188), Scioto Blooms on Walker Road, Commercial Point offers a free fill for any 4-inch pot brought in during the event and The Phrenology Garden in Five Points.
