Three people were arrested in Lynchburg on Tuesday after the execution of a search warrant turned up three one-pot methamphetamine labs, according to information released by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
Along with the one-pot cookers found, several chemicals used to make methamphetamine, as well as drug abuse instruments, were also discovered at the Lynchburg residence in the 200 block of North Broadway Street.
Amber M. Martin, 31, of Lynchburg, Joshua D. Hibbs, 32, of Amelia, and Dustin D. Melampy, 34, of Lynchburg, were taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies and all have been charged with illegal manufacture of drugs in the vicinity of a juvenile, a first-degree felony, sheriff Richard Warner said.
According to the county jail’s website, Martin, Hibbs and Melampy are being held on $90,000 bonds.
Highland County Children Services was notified in regard to two minor children at the residence, both under the age of 10, the sheriff’s office said.
The chemicals were neutralized by sheriff’s office personnel and the Lynchburg Area Joint Fire and Ambulance District. Deputies with the Highland County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the U.S. 23 Pipeline Drug Task Force and Ohio HITDA in processing the scene.
Warner said that both task forces, the sheriff’s office and members of the former Lynchburg Police Department, who were recently laid off before a new department was formed a few days later, had been working on the case for some time. Warner said the new police department did not assist in the execution of the search warrant Tuesday.
Evidence collected will be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for analysis, according to the sheriff’s office, and the case will be submitted to the county prosecutor’s office for presentation to an upcoming grand jury.
Martin, Hibbs and Melampy, according to the jail site, were set to appear in the Hillsboro Municipal Court on Wednesday morning.
