JEROME TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol say they believe they have located the van and the suspected driver involved in a fatal crash that occurred in Union County Thursday morning, Dec. 26.
According to troopers, the driver of the van is the father of the child who allegedly fell from the van while it was moving. The 4-year-old child was struck by the vehicle and later died at an area hospital.
The child was struck and killed in the area of Brock Road and Industrial Parkway, according to troopers.
The van, described as a red, rusted minivan as it was traveling eastbound on Brock Road when the crash occurred.
According to deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the driver stopped to speak with deputies on the scene, but drove off shortly after stopping.
The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
