The Madison-Plains girls basketball team showed some fight and fortitude Monday, Dec. 16, and walked away with a 42-37 non-league victory over visiting Cedarville.
The Golden Eagles (2-3, 1-2) scored as many points in the fourth quarter (21) as they had scored in the first three quarters to pull off the come-from-behind victory.
Hayley Faulkner stepped up and took the lead offensively for the Eagles. She scored 14 points, including three makes from beyond the three-point arc. Christan Bowshier finished the game with eight points.
Plains played the game without do-everything guard Macy McCollister, the Golden Eagles leading scorer. Kaleigh Whitaker and McKayla Wilson helped to pick up the slack by scoring six points apiece.
Plains led 8-4 after a quarter and trailed 16-12 at the half. The Indians extended their advantage to 29-21 after the third, before the home team came roaring back.
Madison-Plains is gearing up for a big weekend. The team will play at rival London on Friday, Dec. 20 before hosting former South Central Ohio League foe East Clinton on Saturday. The game Friday will tipoff at 7:30 p.m., while Saturday’s game will start at 1:30 p.m.
