Thursday night was ladies night when it came to high school basketball in Madison County. Three local girls teams took the court on Thursday, Dec. 12, with two coming away with key league wins.

The Roughriders (3-1, 2-0) sent a loud message to the rest of the members of the MSL Ohio with an eye-opening triumph over previously unbeaten Worthington Christian (5-1, 3-0) on Thursday, Dec. 12. The victory was a clear indication that West Jeff will be a contender for a MSL championship.
The Warriors were thought to be the favorite to win the newly aligned league. But with the Roughriders win they trail West Jefferson by a game in the loss column.
Madison Gatley scored a team-high 17 points, Claire Sterling added nine and a total of seven Roughriders players scored in the big win.
The Golden Eagles (1-2, 1-1) picked up their first win of the season on Thursday, Dec. 12, with a 46-41 triumph over visiting Grandview (3-2, 1-2).
Madison-Plains High School outscored the visitors 16-8 in the final quarter as they rallied to pick up a Mid-State League Ohio Division victory.
Macy McCollister led the way for Plains with her 16-point effort. Hayley Faulkner also reached double digits with 12, while Kaylin Dill and Savanna Nelson both tallied six.
The Flames (3-3) fell behind early and never recovered as they fell on the road on Thursday, Dec. 12.
Danville opened up the game on a roll and staked itself to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter.

The Pioneers (2-3, 0-1) dropped their Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener at Pleasant on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The Spartans (4-1, 3-0) stayed unbeaten in league play with the win.
