Local woman lands role in commercial

A recent TV spot for Walmart featured London entrepreneur and mom Gabi Downing.
“There was a gentleman from Walmart in the area last week, looking for moms for a local commercial,” Downing said. “I was interviewed on camera.”
“Last Tuesday, I was given $250 to go shopping at a different grocery store. The rules were that I couldn’t buy alcohol or tobacco or meat or produce. That made my shopping a little trickier than usual.”
If Gabi had spent more than $250, it would have come out of her own pocket. “I spent $250 and 50 cents.”
“We then went through Walmart and they filmed me, showing me how much I saved.”
“We shot the commercial on Tuesday and two days later it was on T.V.”
Gabi owns the beauty salon Gabrielle’s of London, located at 289 Lafayette Road

it was rigged, plain and simple
Can this town get any trashier? It sounds like Grow Up is one of those pieces of trash too. Picking this local business woman was not a mistake, they were persuaded who to pick by the ones who run this town. Thats how it works around here, good thing will happen to you if you’re from around here and are in with ole King David and his cronies. I’m so glad my house sold and I can get out of this armpit of a city.
How dare you call me trash for stating my opinion? Perhaps you should look in the mirror and examine yourself. It’s a really good thing your house sold so you can move on and take your ignorance and stupidity with you. Sounds like you are a bit jealous because you weren’t asked to be in a commercial….. I think it’s safe to say this woman was not selected because of any personal ties with city officials. Jealousy is an ugly trait and will get you no where. Hope you are on your way out of our city VERY SOON because Bo DOES NOT KNOW.
You people are ridiculous. Jimmy you need to get a life. Your concern over where this woman shops is absurd. She is allowed to shop anywhere she wants and participate in a commercial if she damn well pleases. You have negative comments about everything so you must be pretty unhappy in your life. For Lance, just because this woman owns a business does not mean she does not need $250 in free groceries. She works for a living and is not a free loader welfare recipient who gets free food every month. Both of you are immature and need grow up!
Good job Gaby! You did a great job and I hope you enjoyed your $250 gift card!!
I speak the Truth I hear all these fools shopping at Wal mart saving a nickel here and a nickle there all the money goes over seas and you all support it and not the real Store like Kroger Shop where you must but in the end all they do is ruin towns like london and when there is no money left they close and leave so she is not the only traitor in this town you all are for any one who shops at Wall mart. Cant wait to see you all shopping at the high priced shops in down town
Do you know proper English? You sound like a moron. Does Walmart fly in all the people that work there from overseas everyday? I shop at Kroger but I my switch to Walmart so i don’t run into you.
Swith Joe Loser
Why not give the $250 worth of groceries to someone who needs it, not a local business owner. There are plenty of people in this town that could have been picked that right now don’t have$ 2.50 to buy groceries let alone $250. Walmart is a joke anyways.
Good job Gaby! And to all the people that have something negative to say, shame on you!! Why does it matter to you where this girl shops-I think it is important that we support ALL local business even it that means you go to both places. It is ok to be loyal to more than one place. More people should stop worrying about what other people do and focus on what is best for them and their family. I shop both places and I eat pizza from more than one pizza place around here, I like to support them all. We as a community need to help each other, and as the saying goes don’t ever look down on someone unless you are helping them up!
Gaby, Jimmy is always on here making negative comments. Don’t worry about him. I can honestly say I know she still shops at Kroger because I seen her Tuesday in there.
I want to thank everyone for the support!! Means ALOT!!!!!!!!!! People r quick to judge…..very sad!
Xoxo
Gaby:))
Can someone post a link (if there is one) to the commercial ?
I thought it was cool seeing a local on tv.Jimmy lighten up dude,it wasnt your time that was spent.
Lets face it…. When times are tough, as they are on us all – we go where we can get the best deal and value….Personally I think they picked Gaby because of her cool hair
lol
Jimmy – Traitor? Really, what stupid person would pass up FREE groceries? Cut her some slack. Way to go Gabrielle!
Traitor all the folks at Kroger treat you great and the you do this
Sorry you feel this way! My heart is at Kroger and always will
be!! I told the Wal Mart folks that Kroger is my first choice!
Probably why they picked me….try to convert maybe? Who
Knows? But I will always go back to Kroger! You have a better selection of produce, and better selection of meat! Plus you have Organics! Not to
mention I love the people that work there!!!!!!
