James W. (Jim) Jacobs, 95, of Mt. Sterling, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

He was born May 9, 1917, in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.

Jim was in construction most of his life.

Jim always wanted to help the people living in Mt. Sterling and make the village a better place to live. He was the builder of many homes and businesses in Mt. Sterling, including the funeral home.

He also served in the Civilian Air Corps during World War II.

Preceding him in death was his parents, Edward and Ella (Shephard) Jacobs; wife, Opal Jacobs; brothers, Harold, Ralph, Tom, Floyd, Robert, Glen, and infant Elmer; sisters, Marie Warden and Betty Jacobs.

He is survived by his loving daughters and son-in-law, Linda Widen of Grove City, Terri and Bill Wilson of London; grandchildren, Jennifer (BJ) Spurlock of Arizona, Jamey (Ciara) Widen of London, Amber (Sean) Thompson of Plain City, Troy (Rachelle) Wilson of Delaware, Ohio, Derek Wilson (Lindsey Coughlin) of London; great-grandchildren, Brittany Widen, Brooke Spurlock, Alyssa Spurlock, and Cole Spurlock, Dylan and Tristan Widen, Noah and Michaela Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143. Rev. Steve Brown will be officiating. The interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.
