Donald Gordon very well may have saved Katrina Gingerich’s life Sunday night.
Gingerich, a 24-year-old Plain City woman, remains in serious condition in Dublin Methodist Hospital on Monday, following a single-car crash on Lafayette-Plain City Road late Sunday.
She was northbound on Lafayette-Plain City Road at 11:43 p.m. Sunday when she lost control of the 2005 Ford Escape she was driving just north of the Taylor-Blair Road intersection, according to a Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson.
Gingerich’s vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Gordon said he was headed home after watching the Super Bowl when he spotted the overturned vehicle and called authorities.
“When I first arrived, the car was in a ditch on its top,” he said. “I looked inside and didn’t see anyone in there. So, I backed my truck up and flipped on the spot lights and I saw her.
She was laying on the ground under a tree near the scene. Another motorist was coming by. We had blankets and put them on her until the police arrived.”
A squad unit from Pleasant Valley Fire Department took Gingerich to the hospital.
The accident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
