The Flames (19-5) passed its first real test of the postseason with a Division IV sectional final victory Thursday at Jonathan Alder.

After a pair of blowout victories in the first two rounds, Shekinah had to work hard to hold off the upstart Lions.

“We played pretty well in the first half,” Shekinah coach Rod Yoder said. “We only scored three points in the fourth quarter so we didn’t necessarily finish strong.

“But that’s a young talented team they have there.”

Annelise Rohrer led the Flames in scoring with 17 points, Bridget Troyer added nine in the win.

The No. 3 seed Shekinah advances to a D-IV district semifinal where it will meet No. 5 Ridgedale Thursday at Lakewood at 8 p.m.

Ridgedale upset No. 2 seed Worthington Christian 37-36 Thursday.
