Anonymous–you can’t fix stupid as Chad has demonstrated. Ignorance is just that. People who want to impose their religion on others IS the problem. I am not gay but I also believe that people should have the same right to marry whoever they want. And it is interesting that the divorce rates among heterosexual marriages is so high—you can already marry your cousin in many states–that has always been the case, next excuse. Multiple marriages–what century are you living in? People marry, divorce and re-marry like it’s nothing in this day and age.
Also, there are many approximately 1500 species of animals that display homosexual behavior–do you believe God didn’t create that?
Again, I believe it’s not your business what two consenting adults choose to do and that marriage equality is inevitable as it should be.
The fact that you pair same-sex marriage and marriage with non-humans is down right ignorant and pretty degrading.
Why does it matter what two strangers do with their lives? And why should you have a say in what they can and cannot do. Even though I am not gay I believe that anybody should have the right to marry who they want no matter their gender.
Abe Lincoln once asked a group of people, “How many legs would a sheep have if you called his tail a leg?” The group promptly answered, “Five”! “No,” said Lincoln, “It would only have four. Calling its tail a leg doesn’t make it one.” From the beginning of human history, in every human society and religion, marriage has been a covenant between a man and a woman. By its nature, it was ordered toward the procreation and education of children and the unity and wellbeing of the spouses. What same-sex “marriage” proposes denies the self-evident biological, physiological, and psychological differences between men and women which, in marriage, they best find their complementarity. The quest to institutionalize the circumvention of the purpose of the sexual act violates natural law and the norms of morality. Same sex marriage always denies a child either a biological father or a mother. Studies have shown fatherless boys to make up a greatly preponderant percentage of troubled males in society. (Yes, there are exceptions.) Those seeking to protect the institution of marriage are not the bigots. They are not the ones to impose their values upon a minority, it is quite the opposite. Marriage between one man and one woman is the norm. It is a minority of two to four percent seeking to invade with their values upon the remainder of society. Same sex marriage imposes its own prejudices on the remainder of society. Military chaplains now must officiate against their consciences at same sex weddings. Photographers and other contractors are required to service same sex weddings against their consciences. Ministers can be arrested for preaching from portions of the Bible in some of the countries which have led in the same sex battle. Parents in California have lost the right to opt their children out of sexual orientation tolerance classes which promote homosexuality as an accepted lifestyle. The bullying of any child is a moral wrong. Dehumanizing gay and lesbian individuals is a gross moral wrong, but that requires no one to change their moral values. Same sex marriage seeks to turns a moral wrong into a civil right. To claim parity with the civil rights movement is degrading to the great racial struggles of the past. A woman of any race can pair with a man of any race in perfect biological and psychological harmony. Biologically and Biblically, race does not exist, there is but one race. A Black person does not self-identify as being black, where other self-identification is. Same sex unions create not a family but a sterile union. Had the first couple been homosexual, you would not be reading this. God had a plan. And if you believe in evolution, it had a plan. You exist only because of the survival of the fittest which requires reproductive capabilities as its most basic necessity. There is a slippery slope we have stepped on. It is touted as ridiculous, but pray tell, what permanent barriers will remain once the wall of a marriage between one woman and one man are broken which will not crumble: multiple marriages? A marriage between close relatives? Marriages with the non-human? In some states, fourteen is the minimum age to marry. What are we thinking here? The ice is forming on our slope. The word epistemology deals with the source of knowledge. In this issue, we have natural law which has informed society for ions of time. Those who follow their faith, whichever Bible you have chosen, see yourself as having been directed by a higher power. Then we have coming before us those who may be moral anarchists. They have dissed all previous structures of society and seek their own. Once, in the history of Israel, there was no king and every man did what was right in his own eyes. That resulted in very bad times for Israel. And without basic moral guidelines, some very bad times are ahead for America.
In the above,there was not the slightest intent to dehumanize any human being. The point was simply, once anybody or any group crosses the age-old threshold of the definition of marriage, who would dare attempt to stop any additional redefining of marriage? And yes, no human has the right to say who can or cannot get married. Nature and millenia of human history does that. But that is exactly what the same-sex marriage movement is trying to do.
