TAGGART

Maxine (Davis) Taggart, 90, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at AlterCare of Hilliard.

She was born June 18, 1922, at 1448 Wendell Ave. in Columbus, Ohio.

She attended Chicago Elementary School and Starling Junior High School, and graduated from West High School in January of 1940. The following year, she was working downtown in the Atlas Building at the Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen when she met Fred Taggart at Hoovers Restaurant. They were engaged the following Easter and were married in a ceremony at her parents’ house on Eureka Avenue on Nov. 18, 1942.

Fred and Maxine lived on the west side of Columbus where they raised their family of five children. They attended St. John Lutheran Church. In 1996, Fred and Maxine moved to London, Ohio, and in 2009, they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Maxine enjoyed reading, shopping, and taking care of her home and family.

Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Fred who passed away in 2010; her parents, Harold and Rose Davis; a brother, Chester Davis, who died in infancy; a half-sister, Geraldine Primmer; and half brother, Elmo Kinser.

She is survived by her sister, Lorene Oglevee, and her children, Tammy (Larry) Benaquist, Keene, of New Hampshire, Marceile (Ed) Redmon, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Katanya Berndt, of Dublin, Greg Taggart, of Columbus, Nick Taggart (Michele Reinhart), of Columbus; grandchildren, Amber, Kirsten, Annelise, Siri, Erica, Jennifer, Brian, and Steven; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of AlterCare of Hilliard for their skill and loving care.

Friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church, 2745 W. Broad St., Saturday, Jan. 5, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Pastor Thomas Phillips will be officiating. Arrangements completed at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Columbus.
