Clinton-Massie run takes down MPHS

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Clinton-Massie (4-2, 2-0) built a 20-point lead on an 18-2 run and coasted to a 53-40 South Central Ohio League victory over Madison-Plains (5-5, 4-2) Tuesday in boys basketball action.
Massie scored the last eight points of the second quarter and 10 of the first 12 in the third quarter to build a 43-23 lead.
Plains only had eight points in the middle two periods.
Massie’s Cory Saddler led all scorers with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He also had seven rebounds, three steals, three blocks and an assist.
Six of Saddler’s points came in the second period, including the last four of the Falcons’ 8-0 run.
Massie jumped out to an 8-2 lead quickly. Its cushion stayed around seven until a Plains 7-2 run to finish the opening period closed the gap to 20-17.
Ryne Davis hit four of his five shots to keep Plains close. Saddler had eight points, a steal, an assist and three rebounds that eliminated second chances for Plains.
Plains stayed within four points of the Falcons until midway through the second quarter when they pulled away with their 8-0 run to end the half.
Davis finished with nine points.
Jonathan Siler came off the bench to score 12 to lead Plains.
In the reserve game, Jacob McIntire scored 11 to lead Massie (4-2, 2-0) to a 38-32 victory. John
Vallery had 12 for Plains (3-6, 2-4).
Massie also took the freshmen contest, 34-19. Cam Carroll had 13 points for the Falcons (3-3, 2-0). Corbin Robertson led Plains with six.
