Jade, an 8-year-old Boxer, who resides with her man, Jim Thacker in Plain City, will proudly wear Madison County dog tag Number One.
The presentation was made to her man Monday by county auditor Jennifer Hunter.
Her lucky man was one of 170 entrants to a raffle for the numero uno tag, which was the prize. The funds raised through the drawing were donated, along additional donations and coupons, amounted to a gift of $214 to the Humane Society of Madison County. Cathy Leistikow accepted the donation on behalf of the humane society.
Jade, wearing a star-studded scarf, took the ceremonial excitement in stride. She has been with Thacker since he adopted her from a family in Plain City, who had two large canines in a small apartment.
Thacker confirmed his time with Jade verifies the validity of “man’s best friend.”
“She is my best friend,” Thacker said.
Jade panted in apparent approval.
