CATHEL

Ivan (Joe) Cathel, 77, of Orient, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in Mount Carmel West, Columbus.

He was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Pickaway County, Ohio, the son of the late Emert and Mary (Lemay) Cathel.

Joe was a retired custodian for the Westfall School District.

He member of the Harrisburg United Methodist Church; lifetime member of Harrisburg K of P Lodge No. 470; and lifetime member of Harrisburg VFW Post No. 11208.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Preceded in death by his daughter, JoLynn Davis (Dec. 10, 2012); brothers Robert and Dick Cathel; sister Marilyn Scaggs.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Barbara (Morehart) Cathel; granddaughter, Sarah Davis; grandson, AJ Davis; great-granddaughter, Bella; son-in-law, Michael Davis; sister, Judy Staten; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling. Rev. Edwin Martin will be officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery.

A luncheon will be served at the Harrisburg United Methodist Church following the graveside committal. All are welcome. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Family suggests casual wear.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisburg United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
