Weekend roundup: West Jeff boys suffer first loss

Despite having five players score in double digits Saturday, the host West Jefferson boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season.
The Roughriders, who are now 5-1, lost a Mid-State League/Cardinal Division game, 78-71, to visiting Licking Heights.
For West Jeff, Ryan Love finished with 17, while Seth Casto and Kyle Rollins each netted 12, an Matt Jones and Jon Flucke each finished with 10.

Alder captures baker tournament
CHILLICOTHE — The Jonathan Alder boys bowling team Pioneer won the first First Capital Baker Tournament in Chillicothe on Saturday.
After 16 baker games, the Pioneer boys qualified first with 3,209 total pinfall lead in the 12-team field.
Jonathan Alder defeated Unioto (2-0) in best 2-out-of-3 in the semifinals.
Zane Trace defeated Logan Elm (2-1) to advance to the finals against top seeded Jonathan Alder.
The Pioneer boys then defeated Zane Trace (2-0) with solid baker games of 226 and 257.
“The boys were outstanding today, averaging 209 for 20 baker games and defeated a solid Zane Trace team in their home center, Pioneers coach Rusty Walter said.
