Not sure that having more police can prevent a crime like this, but unions have only priced themselves out of the labor market in competing against foreign governments that subsidize their exports and whose workers live in abject poverty. Given those choices I would much rather live in a country where the “haves” and the corporate media keep their foot on the “have not’s” unions. At least American’s can win small battles against their oppressors, where the foreign, super wealthy corporatists are emboldened by America’s anti-union media and their sympathizer’s. This was a great country in the past because of unions, not in spite of them. That may have been the only fifty years in all of human manufacturing history when the worker stood at least at eye level with with the barons of finance and industry. I am afraid America is doomed to the same fate as the countries that our jobs have been moved to. The time when those jobs return may be when abject poverty is again a way of life here, like it was before unions took hold after the great depression.

Union bash? Seriously? Let me guess – you’re in a union. The unions in this country have priced themselves right out of business. This is why right to work states like Indiana are adding jobs like they are going out of style, and I fail to see what this had to do with robbing the BP just a couple of blocks from the police station anyway. How do you know the perp even knew about the cut in staff, and I doubt it would have affected his decision to be a criminal either way. I see right through your pro union rhetoric..

Trying to make excuses huh? My bet is you belong to the republican party because every line of what you just wrote about right to work states is a lie. While they do have a small percentage of better jobs numbers the jobs are in low paying areas that do not pay the people enough to even live on that they have to take on a second job if they can find one. The mayor and city council and most likely you, will NEVER see this cut as a problem until someone is killed or one of them become a victim of a crime. By the way I am not in a union. I unlike half of London have managed to go get an education and depend on myself for employment.

This is what happens when you have a mayor along with his cronies try to Union bash by cutting the police budget so the Chief has to lay off half the dept. Let’s see if someone gets killed because of this lame-brained move by the Mayor and City Council.
