Francis L. “Pete” Landis, born April 14, 1928, in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, a son of Dewey and Emma Landis, died at Madison County Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and married Margareta Lahnert on Dec. 29, 1949. They were married almost 49 years when she passed on Sept. 14, 1998.

Pete worked at Westinghouse and at the London Correctional Institution as a correctional officer until his retirement in 1994. He was also a former member of the GTO Association of Central Ohio and enjoyed classic cars.

He leaves behind his daughters, Helga (Ray) Jolley of Cornelius, North Carolina and Brigitta (Rick) Oaks of Warren, Ohio; son, Ronald L. (Donna) Landis of London, Ohio; grandsons, C. Randy (Cyndra) Cole, Chris (Jenn) Cole, and Kevin (fiancée Erica) Landis; one great-grandson and two great-granddaughters; brothers, Vernon (Doris) Landis and George Landis; sisters, Doras Manning and Dorothy Reed; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Betty Fletcher.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Margareta; his parents; brother, Ralph Landis; and sister, Edith Sexton.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St., London, Ohio. Reverend Dwain Hill will be officiating. Interment will follow in Somerford Township Cemetery, London. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday.

If they wish, friends may make memorial contributions to Grace Baptist Church, 121 N. Madison Road, London, OH 43140.
