Gladys Jenkins Caldwell, 94, of London, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at 9:05 p.m. in the Sisters on Elm.

She was born on June 11, 1918, in Ironton, Ohio, a daughter of Theodore and Adeline (Blankenship) Van Meter.

She was retired as a LPN from Orient Developmental Center and was a member of the London Church of God.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Faye Jenkins of London, Glenna (Gene) Humphrey of Columbus, Dorothy (Dick) Rice of Logan; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Erma Shew of Springfield, Emogene Brumfield of Greenfield; and brother, Harley Van Meter of Pedro, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Caldwell; brothers, Eugene, Burton and Melvin Van Meter; and sister, Dorothy Mootz.

Gladys’ family invites friends to call at the RADER-LYNCH & DODDS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 124 E. High St., London, Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon. Interment will follow in Somerford Township Cemetery. A buffet luncheon will follow at the Red Brick Tavern on U.S. Route 40.
