Police Department acquires prescription drop box

PLAIN CITY – A prescription drug drop box, for the disposal of unwanted and expired medications, is now available at the Plain City Police Department.

The PCPD, collaborating with the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Marysville Police Department, Richwood Police Department, and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office was able to aquire a permanent drop box located at 231 Friend St., Plain City.

At this time, only prescription pills and patches will be accepted at the drop box.

All drugs collected in the drop box will be disposed of during the DEA’s bi-annual drug take-back collections.

Access to the drop box will be during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

With all prescription medications, the FDA advises citizens to follow any specific disposal instructions on the drug label or information that accompanies the medication.

Do not flush prescription drugs down the toilet unless this information specifically instructs you to do so.
