Retha (Hayes) Peters, 94, of London, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, in the Madison Senior Living Community.

Born Jan. 2, 1918, in Jenkins, Kentucky, she was a daughter of James and Laura (Dotson) Hayes.

Retha had been one of the first women employed at the London Correctional Institution where she retired after 28 years as the payroll officer.

A member of the First United Methodist Church, she was one of the first members of the Los Jovenes Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Madison County Senior Citizens and loved traveling.

Survivors include her daughters, Amaryllis (Jim) Mersey and Merrill (Delroy) Harrison, all of Baltimore, Maryland; son, David (Beth) Peters of London; grandsons, David (Melissa) Peters, Joshua (Gretchen) Peters, Nathan (Amy) Peters, Jason (Rachel) Mersey and Benjamin (Michelle) Mersey; great-grandchildren, Kelsie, McKenzie, Jacey, Bryce and Ellie Peters and Aiden McCoy; brother, Jack (Betsy) Hayes of Sun City, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Peters; sister, Jean Howard; and brother, Vernon Hayes.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, in Kirkwood Cemetery, London. Pastor Sue McClelland will be officiating. Visitation will not be observed.

The family is being served by the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St., London, Ohio 43140.
