Mississippi murder suspect arrested in Ohio

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — A suspect wanted by police in Hattiesburg, Miss., on a murder charge has been arrested in Lorain, Ohio.

The Hattiesburg American reports 37-year-old Tamira Peoples was arrested without incident at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Police say her 3-year-old son was with her.

Investigators secured an arrest warrant for Peoples following a Monday shooting that left a Hattiesburg woman dead and her mother hospitalized with non-life threatening wounds.

Lorain Police Department Lt. Roger Watkins said a firearm was recovered from the vehicle, which was seized in Lorain.

Peoples is charged with murder and aggravated assault. She allegedly shot 22-year-old Samina Gholar as she stood in the doorway of her apartment and also wounded Gholar’s mother.
