Rita Johnson, 83, of West Jefferson, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 22, 1929, in West Jefferson, the daughter of the late John and Henrietta Chenos.

Rita was a member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church of West Jefferson, Madison County Senior Center.

She had retired from Rockwell International. After retirement, she went to work for Eddie Bauer as a warehouse worker and received Employee of the Month at the age of 69.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Phillip David and Lisa Voss of Westminster, Colorado; daughter, Kim Voss and Pat Kelley of Long Beach, California; three grandchildren, Brock Voss and wife Ashlee of Henderson, Colorado, Chase Voss of Honolulu, Hawaii, Vanessa Cook and husband Jeremy of Westminster, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Aden Cook, Cheyenne Voss, Kyleigh Voss, Carson Cook and baby Cook on the way; sisters, Cynthia Brake and Marcelia Elfrink, both of West Jefferson; beloved sister-in-law, Jewel Chenos; brother-in-law, Don Brake; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Rita was preceded in death by sisters, Leona Miller, Madeline Stokrp and Sylvia Chenos; and brothers, Stephen, John, and George Chenos.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W. Main St., West Jefferson, with Vigil Wake Service at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, with Rev. Fr. Robert Kitsmiller as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Jefferson.
