First Energy statement on utilities in West Jefferson

First Energy Solution representative Emily Fernandez responded to The Madison Press on Wednesday, Nov. 21, about the complaints of West Jefferson residents who have received letters in the mail informing them that their accounts were being switched to First Energy from AEP Ohio.
“They should not have been included,” Fernandez said. “They will not be automatically switched and they won’t be charged a fee to leave.”
I think I received a call a few days ago also, and I’m in London. I didn’t listen to their speil, because I knew I didn’t ask to switch. I’ll need to check the bill also.
Also if you call AEP by today you can completely opt out of the program. I called yesterday and did this. The minimal savings is not worth the hassle of 2 bills to keep track of. I estimated a savings of less than $12 on my bill for the entire year as we already limit our electric usage. The number to call AEP Ohio is 1-888-237-5566
