Early voting going well in county

By Dean Shipley

Early voting in Madison County is “going gangbusters.”

“We’ve been swamped,” said Tim Ward, director of the Madison County Board of Elections on Thursday afternoon.

As of that time, Ward said some 5,745 ballots have been requested and sent out. Out of 23,933 registered voters within the county, that’s 23.9 percent. Of the requested number, Ward said only around a thousand have not yet come back.

In order to be counted, those outstanding ballots have to be either:

• postmarked by Nov. 5, 2012

• delivered in person to the Board of Elections, 1423 State Route 38 S.E., London, by 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6.

If not, those ballots will not be counted.
