A very special art show
Actually there are two art shows at the same location.
One is the 2012 art exhibit by VSA Ohio, the statewide touring exhibit of artwork by artists of all abilities throughout Ohio and our own Sky High Arts artists’ exhibit under the direction of Alice Kennedy. During the month of October the walls of the art studio, located at MATCO Services, 204 Maple St., London, will be filled with their special art work.
There will be an Open House from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, if you can possibly attend. There will be music, refreshments, and art.
I have been involved with MATCO’s Sky High Arts program for many years and still find it a very rewarding experience. As an artist and a person, this group has given me many moments of great pleasure and personal fulfillment.
Here, I have experienced uninhibited creativity on a different level which is beyond intellectual and has moved into spiritual, joy just in the act of creating. I guess for me it is expressed in the words of a person who has been confined to a wheelchair most of his life when he said, “Look, I did it all by myself.”
And I must add here that if you would like to be a part of this program or any part of the activities at MATCO, they would appreciate your offer of volunteering where needed. It could only be an hour a week, but the personal rewards you will receive will be numerous.
Come to the Open House. If this is not possible, come and visit during the month of October, see the art these creative people have produced.
