Helen (Rowe) Nixon, 94, of London, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in the Madison Senior Living Community, London.

Born March 25, 1918, in Fayette County, she was a daughter of David Walter and Ollie (Cook) Rowe.

Helen had worked at London Correctional Institution before working at the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District from which she retired.

A lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, she also belonged to the Madison County Extension Homemakers and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her sons, George and Mary Burke of London and Jim Nixon of Cheraw, South Carolina; grandchildren, Lynette (Rick) Salazar, Aaron Nixon, Andrea (Jim) McCoy and Clayton (Amy) Burke; great-grandchildren, Brynne, Burke, Bailee, Bryce, Savanna, Sabrina and Sara; daughter-in-law, Sandee Nixon of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester “Leck” Nixon; and brothers Jim, Oliver and Bob Rowe.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 N. Main St., London. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be at the family’s convenience. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
