The London junior varsity football team was the host for Hillsboro on Saturday.

The Red Raiders came away with a heartbreaking close loss to the Indians by the score of 14-12.

London opened the scoring in the first period with a 45-yard TD pass from Zane Foucht to Andrew Hoffman to take a 6-0 lead.

Hillsboro countered with a 99-yard, 16-play drive to make an 8-6 halftime lead.

London then took a third quarter 12-8 lead when Foucht sneaked in from the 1.

London still had this lead when Raider Kamhar Jones picked off an Indians aerial with 2:27 left in the fourth quarter.

The Red Raiders then strangely threw an incomplete pass before fumbling the ball away on an 8-yard loss.

They had only used 10 seconds off the clock.

The Indians then marched 42 yards for the winning score in just over a minute, added by three London penalties for 25 yards. London got the ball back, but was unable to do anything with it.

Michael Johnson was the leading rusher for London with 76 yards on 10 carries. Foucht hit eight-passes-out-of-15 tries for 120 yards.

Skylor Calhoun had three catches for 26 yards

The Red Raider defense was led by Calhoun with nine tackles, while Hoffman had eight and Dalton Carter added seven tackles.

With this loss, the Raider junior varsity falls to 0-6.

London’s next game is next Saturday at 10 a.m. at home against East Clinton.
