Driven for success.
In order to perform when the terrain gets tough, a car must rely on all of its tires.
On Sept. 6, when the competition got tough in the Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) Golf Classic, the Madison County Tire team relied on all of its members to contribute. It was that team concept that led them to a smooth ride into first place in the annual event — now in its 14th year — held in support of people with disabilities. The event took place at the London Country Club. Funds gathered from the event will benefit all facets of the MCBDD recreation program, Madison County Special Olympics, as well as the MCBDD Levy Committee for future campaigns.
Members of Madison County Tire included Rick Pollard, Gene Wolverton, Tim Roby, Jamie Kaltenbach, Tom Russell, and Scott Hingson.
They finished at -18. Second place was captured by Stanley Electric (-16), followed closely by two-time defending champion Team Campbell (-15).
Prizes were awarded to participants in a variety of categories. They included: Men’s longest putt (Mike Quilter II), women’s longest putt (Keli Fisher), men’s closest to the pin (Scott Hingston and Mike Quilter II), women’s closest to the pin (Melissa Canney and Susan Thompson), women’s longest drive (Lori Dodge-Dorsey) and men’s longest drive (Matt Terwilliger). Ryan Parrish won the putting contest.
The scramble had Congent Systems, Inc, as its $400 tournament sponsors.
