County championship will be Sept. 12

The “Battle of Madison County Cross Country Meet” will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Jonathan Alder Junior High School.
The meet will host the three county schools that have individuals and/or teams as apart of their athletic department including: Madison-Plains, Jonathan Alder and London.
Last year, both London and Jonathan Alder sent their boys teams to the OHSAA Regional Championships after finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the Central District.
The boys race expects to feature senior Nick Cooperrider and sophomore Jacob Somwaru, both of Jonathan Alder. Both have recorded two of the top-20 performances in the Central District in the first two weeks of the season this fall.
The girls race will feature four girls that have recorded top-10 performances according to the Central District Cross Country rankings over the past two weeks including, the defending Division II OHSAA cross country state champion.
Sarrah Taylor recently claimed the Ohio Classic individual title on Saturday at Hillsboro with her winning time of 21:13.
Taylor is expected to be challenged by junior Jessica Stewart (London), freshman Delanie Geitgey (Jonathan Alder) and junior Sami Koester (Jonathan Alder), each of whom represents Madison County in the top-10 of current district rankings.
The 2012 county meet schedule is as follows:
• 4:45 p.m. — Middle school (boys and girls combined)
• 5:15 p.m. — Girls high school
• 5:45 p.m. — Boys high school
