The London boys soccer team went back and forth with Buckeye Valley but was unable to pull away for a win.
The two teams tied 2-2.
Buckeye Valley came out fast in the first half and scored an early goal.
As the first half progressed, London’s sophomore tandem of Nathan Newman and Alex Sheneman started to put pressure on the defense. After numerous fast breaks, junior Jose Velasco was able to get ahead of the defense and scored a goal to tie.
The second half was very similar to the first half. Buckeye Valley (2-2-1) came out fast and scored a quick goal.
The Red Raiders again increased the tempo of the game and wore down the Barons defensemen. This time, freshman Bryce Swartz was able to break away and score a goal.
Coach Steve Baker was happy with Swartz’s play in the second half commenting that “Bryce stepped up his game in the middle and was getting after the ball.”
In the closing minutes, the Red Raiders (1-3-2) took a couple unsuccessful shots on goal.
