Boys soccer: Jonathan Alder 5, London 0
Jonathan Alder and London aren’t in a league together, but being county neighbors automatically make them rivals.
It was the host Pioneers who got the best of the Red Raiders Tuesday night.
“Alder’s got a good program over there,” London coach Steve Baker said.
“It’s not a league game for us but it’s a game we want our guys to experince because, just like Madison-Plains, it is a rivalry.”
Alder, which entered the contest winless, had a number of standouts performances, including Logan Manning (1 goal, 2 assists), Cory Clifton (1g, 1a), Jonathan Herrick (1g), Bravin Herring (1 g), Jacob Eye (1 g) and Mark Williams (1 a).
“It feels good to get any win,” Pioneers coach David Lanka said. “We’ve had a rough start to the season, going 0-4.
“This was the first complete 80 minute game we’ve played all season.”
The London (1-3-1) coach was happy with the effort his team gave.
“We fought hard tonight,” he said. “We just came short.”
