Firefighters and medical personnel from Pleasant Valley and Norwich Township carry the driver of an older model Jeep Grand Cherokee from an accident scene on U.S. Route 42, south of A.W. Wilson Road, on Monday afternoon.
A trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the southbound Jeep veered left of center, hit the rear wheels of a northbound tractor-trailer rig and flipped into a cornfield, trapping the driver.
Both the driver of the rig and the driver of the Jeep were treated at Columbus-area hospitals for minor injuries.
A secured seat belt was credited with saving the Jeep’s driver from more serious injuries.
The wreck closed U.S. 42 for more than an hour. Northbound traffic was diverted onto Middle Pike. Southbound traffic was diverted onto A.W. Wilson Road.
The accident remains under investigation by the patrol.
